Abstract

|
|
Two patients with myelodysplastic syndrome developed myelofibrosis 11 years and
one years after initial diagnosis which were refractory anemia and refractory anemia
with excess of blast. The refractory anemia case developed refractory anemia with
excess of blast (RAEB) in transformation with hypercellular marrow after 8 years and
transformed to myelofibrosis with abnormal mekaryocytopoiesis after 3 years of
proceding RAEB in transformation. The case with initial presentation of RAEB
developed myelofibrosis after one year. The bone marrow biopsy sections of both cases
disclose diffuse myelofibrosis and abnormal megakaryocytopoiesis and abnormal
localigation of megakaryocytes, micromegakaryocytes and giant forms.
